What kind of game is this?
Idlelike Island is a hybrid of two genres:
- Island management — An isometric village builder where you manage resources and train recruits
- Arena roguelike — Top-down combat runs with permadeath and permanent progression
The loop connects them: recruits earn gold in the arena, gold funds island upgrades, island upgrades make stronger recruits.

Is the game free?
Yes — fully free to play in your browser.
Does it work on mobile?
Yes. The game is designed mobile-first. Add it to your home screen for the best experience.
Island Building
What are auras?
Auras are production bonuses that stack from buildings on your island. There are 4 types:
- Food (green) — feeds recruits between runs, speeds up strain recovery
- Attack (red) — boosts arena damage
- Defense (blue) — boosts arena defense
- Recovery (cyan) — speeds up recruit healing after taking damage
Aura ranges overlap when buildings are placed near each other — proximity matters for stacking bonuses.
How do I unlock new buildings?
Buildings unlock as you progress through objectives on the Objective Board panel. Complete combat runs, reach resource milestones, and invest gold to unlock new construction options.
What is the Jeweler?
The Jeweler panel lets you combine relics — special items earned at the end of each season. Relics provide permanent passive bonuses to all your recruits.
What happens when a season ends?
At the end of each season:
- Your island resets — buildings are cleared and you start fresh
- Your season score is recorded on the leaderboard
- You receive a relic based on your performance
- Relics carry over across seasons and stack permanently
What is gold used for?
Gold is the primary currency. Recruits earn gold by completing arena runs. You spend gold on building construction, upgrades, and market purchases.
Arena Combat
How does combat work?
- Tap / click to attack toward your finger or cursor
- Drag on the right zone to roll-dodge in that direction
- Parry — time a dodge perfectly to reflect incoming projectiles back at enemies
Rooms must be cleared to progress. Find the exit to move to the next room.
What happens when my recruit dies?
Permadeath is permanent — the recruit is gone. However:
- A legacy marker is placed on your island at their resting spot
- Your best recruit’s final stats leave a starting bonus for the next recruit
- Death makes your island richer in history
How many floors are there?
Each run has 3 floors, each with 5–7 rooms. The final room on floor 3 is always a boss encounter. Completing a full run earns gold and can unlock relics.
What is strain?
Strain represents how exhausted a recruit is. Each arena run consumes strain. When strain is full, the recruit needs rest before running again.
Build more Food aura on your island to speed up strain recovery between runs.
What are relics?
Relics are permanent passive bonuses unlocked at season end or through the Jeweler. They apply to all future recruits. Combine relics at the Jeweler to create more powerful versions.
Can I run with multiple recruits?
Each recruit runs the arena separately. You can have multiple recruits in various states of training, resting, or running. Manage them from the Recruit Roster panel on the island.
